	<title>Purification of PIA and rSesC as Putative Vaccine Candidates Against &lt;em&gt;Staphylococcus aureus&lt;/em&gt;</title>

	<abstract>&lt;div style=&quot;text-align: justify;&quot;&gt;&lt;strong&gt;&lt;em&gt;Background: &lt;/em&gt;&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;em&gt;Staphylococcus aureus&lt;/em&gt; is predominant at sites of biomaterial-associated infection (BAI) and frequently infects hospitalized individuals.&lt;br&gt;
&lt;strong&gt;&lt;em&gt;Methods:&lt;/em&gt;&lt;/strong&gt; The polysaccharide intercellular adhesin (PIA) and &lt;em&gt;S. epidermidis&lt;/em&gt; rSesC protein, major macromolecules in biofilm formation, were purified under native conditions and cloned and expressed in a prokaryotic host.&lt;br&gt;
&lt;strong&gt;&lt;em&gt;Results:&lt;/em&gt;&lt;/strong&gt; Purification of the macromolecules was confirmed by FTIR and Western blotting.&lt;br&gt;
&lt;strong&gt;&lt;em&gt;Conclusions:&lt;/em&gt;&lt;/strong&gt; The &lt;em&gt;S. epidermidis&lt;/em&gt; SesC protein and PIA were successfully purified. Both are considered as vaccine candidates.&lt;/div&gt;</abstract>
